How Francesco acquired customers
Tools used to build Typefully
Francesco and co-founders launched Typefully on Product Hunt and Hacker News, getting 1,432 signups on day one. Now at $100K+ MRR.
Francesco Di Lorenzo launched Typefully, a write-only interface for Twitter, after weeks of work and refinement.
The traffic breakdown: Hacker News (6.3k), Twitter (2.1k), Product Hunt (1.9k). They finally managed to hit the HN frontpage with an interesting product, no-bullshit title, and sparking controversial discussion.
Typefully started as co-founder Fabrizio's personal side-project. Francesco jumped in to make the editor fast and write server-side code. With help from Ali on positioning and copy, they knew they had a winner.
Launched with a tip-jar, but $150 on a crazy launch day showed it wouldn't pay bills. They added paid features. By 2024, Typefully reached $100K+ MRR.
"Build the basics right, focus on speed and reliability. There's no cutting corners when you want to build a lasting product."
