How Lukas acquired customers
Tools used to build Gleap
Welcome to our journey! We launched BugBattle (now Gleap) and reached $10,000 in MRR exactly one year later - much longer than we initially thought.
When we launched, we had high hopes for rapid growth. But progress was slower than expected because we were running our software agency at the same time. Client work always came first, leaving limited time for BugBattle.
In hindsight, this divided focus was a major bottleneck. A startup needs dedicated time and energy.
BugBattle wasn't a tool you could simply sign up for and start using - it required integration into a user's software. This was the biggest barrier. We realized onboarding needed to be as seamless as possible.
We focused on in-product marketing, highlighting real-world use cases and providing step-by-step integration guides. We added demo modes and pre-filled configurations to show value before full integration.
Despite hurdles, we slowly gained traction through word of mouth. By November 2021—exactly one year after launching—we hit $10K MRR.
Reaching this milestone was proud but also made us realize we needed bold changes. We rebranded from BugBattle to Gleap and launched major marketing initiatives.
