How Rob acquired customers
Tools used to build One Page Love
Started curating single-page websites in 2008. Cross-promotion between projects grew to $100K+/year.
Rob Hope is a South African designer and developer who built a portfolio of curated websites generating over $100K per year. His flagship product, One Page Love, started in 2008 and became the go-to resource for single-page website inspiration.
One Page Love began as a simple idea: curate the best single-page websites on the internet. Rob didn't have grand ambitions - he just loved beautiful web design and wanted to share it.
For years, he balanced freelancing with building the site. "I started as a freelance developer then created a side-project-turned-successful-page," Rob explained.
What made Rob's approach unique was building multiple complementary products under one umbrella brand (Love Curated):
Each product promotes the others, creating a flywheel of traffic and revenue.
Rob's schedule was intense: 7am to 7pm, seven days a week, for over 10 years. His strategy: "keeping curation high, saving people time" while "writing what is special about the content, adding good search tags, and making the site fast."
After approximately 10 years of side hustles, Rob finally quit freelancing around 2018 to focus full-time on his products. By then, One Page Love alone was attracting 150,000 designers, developers, and makers monthly.
"I am learning to accept that side-projects can never be finished."
Rob emphasizes saying no to immediate freelance income to build long-term products. His advice: work consistently, take strategic rest (18-minute naps), and build assets rather than trading time for money.
Cross-promotion creates a flywheel. Build multiple complementary products that promote each other - email subscribers become course buyers become podcast listeners.
Curation is a valid business model. You don't need to create original content. Curating and organizing existing content well can build a sustainable business.
Consistency over intensity. 10+ years of steady work beats short bursts of hustle. Rob worked 7am-7pm for over a decade to reach $100K/year.
Say no to freelancing income. Short-term client work competes with long-term product building. Choose products over projects.
